Mday reflection

I know we're suppose to honor those who have fought for our freedom this special day but I always think of those who have gone before us...especially my grandparents. All growing up I was always bragging that I had BOTH sets of my Grandparents AND a set of Great Grandparents. Well within a period of a few short years I lost them all. Grandparents should live forever I think....anyway I'd like to share with you a poem my Gramma always had hanging in her kitchen. I LOVE it.

The 10 most important TWO letter words you should know.....
If
It
Is
To
Be
It
Is
Up
To
Me
Thanks Gramma!

Look what I FINALLY did

Yup, this is how Kylie and Momma spent ALL day Monday...planting flowers. I've been putting it off with the cooler weather (I never plant before Mday weekend anyway!) and just plain ol' laziness. Well it's done!
12 large geraniums (all Hot Pink) AND 96 allysum plants in white, purple and pink. So it should all be beautiful in a couple of weeks if and when it warms up again. We put in a whole bunch of brickwork so I knew we'd need more pots.
I'm not a garden kind of person. I prefer Pot(s) :-)
So $200 and 36 pots later it's DONE!
Now to stock up on liquid Miracle Grow and I'm all set.
Oh and NO I'm not gonna move them all that's the "maintenance department" aka Mark.

She looks like me!

This is Kylie and her new friends Shi Jia (soon to be 4). We went on a mini road trip this week so I could introduce Kylie (and see her mom Sheri)to Shi Jia (yes, Shi Jia was also born in China). And boy did the girls hit it off. We can hardly wait to go back so they can get in some serious play time in together. Not just messin' around under a table at a restaurant :-) Thanks again Sheri for dinner it was GREAT seeing you and ALL the kids :-)

5 Quotes I like

Ok so I read this on Michelle's blog and thought I would play along. Here's the deal: Go to this site and keep refreshing the page until you find five quotes that speak to you and post them here.

In NO particular order and for no reasons at all......

Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind. Love this!
Dr. Seuss (1904 - 1991)

I'm just a person trapped inside a woman's body. :^)
Elayne Boosler

Buy the ticket take the Ride. Oh and hang on!
Hunter S. Thompson (1939 - 2005)

Everything happens to everybody sooner or later if there is time enough. Yah!
George Bernard Shaw (1856 - 1950)

Time sneaks up on you like a windshield on a bug. No joke!
John Lithgow ( I especially like this one because I have met John sevveral times and he is a great guy. I'd like to say I "know him" but it's been so long since I've seen him it's probably not accurate anymore)

A few things about our trip

Well I've been promising to write a few things about our trip to Jamaica. Well here goes...some Pros and some Cons......

PROS: The weather is unbeatable in Jamaica. We had the bluest skies and warm weather. Not too too hot and of course a nice breeze. We even had some rain. And when it rains I mean it RAINS! But then that too shall pass and back to clear blue and sunny. YEA!

The service aka the the locals. Were so accommodating. And so friendly! Just ask Mark about our taxi driver on the 1st day we were there. Always willing to help you ;-)

The beaches and the pools were spectacular. The ocean was that turquoise blue you see in pictures and WARM! WoW! Like bath water. The sand was so fine and soft. And the pools especially the "lazy river" was a blast. I want one of those in my backyard. Come on lottery ticket!

Yum-O "virgin" pina coladas!!!! Well we actually called them "slurpies" and yes, I drank only "virgin" ones cuz' I really didn't like the rum. And wouldn't you know the booze was all FREE! What was I thinking? Kylie especially liked the strawberry daiquiris (virgin too of course!).

Beaches was known for their affiliation with Sesame Street (one of the BIG reasons I chose this particular resort) and the characters were GREAT! So many activities EVERYday with them...Cooking with Cookie Monster, Dancing with Zoe, Walk abouts with Grover, Rubber ducky hunts with Ernie, Story time with Elmo, Limbo with Bert and Ernie....just to name a few activities we did. Having grown up with S.S. it was fun for me too. Well at least the first time we did them :-)

Well enough for now...Some Cons tomorrow night ok. Enjoy the pix!

We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming

All Better! Well good news is that my surgery is over and yes it was a success (somewhat)! And NO pain what so ever right today! YEA! BUT....Come to find out all the Doc. did was some "bandaiding" to get me by until I really need to fix my knee. See my patella aka kneecap is slowly "eroding" away for lack of another term. All he did was shave the underside to smooth it out again (so no cutting or realigning Michelle) and now he tells me there is a "major" chunk missing from the underside of my knee cap. What? Huh? Well the next step SOMEDAY will be to totally replace my knee cap! Oh now that sounds like NO fun what so ever. So if anyone knows any good diet pills (yah right!) I can take instead of going to the gym so I don't put anymore wear and tear on my knee or gain anymore weight PLEASE let me know....

We interrupt this program......

Today at 1:30 PM and I am going in to day surgery to have what I am calling "routine maintenance" on my OLD "jock" knee (last time I did this was in High School in the 80's! Eeeeek!). Nothing too major just some grinding and cutting to clean it out and possible realign my knee cap. So a gimper I will be for at least a week or so. Don't worry I PROMISE to get back to the blog and post ALL about our trip to Jamaica 'Mon! So off I go to finish up some laundry and what not.
Till I write again..... Susan aka The Gimper
