Momma's Day!!!!!!!!!!!!

The countdown has begun. Today is the beginnning to the LAST year in my thirties (sniff sniff!) 40 here I come!

Kylie told me yesterday she bought my birthday present and it was the tv I wanted for my bathroom. I tried to explain to her NOT to tell me and it should be a surprise and she replied "Then don't tell yourself". I guess that is logic from a 3 year old.

Spring IS in the air!!!

I know it's almost Spring now because the Robins and flocks and flocks of the Cedar Wax wing birds are bombarding our Mountain Ash tree (well the neighbors tree) and their pooing ALL over our deck and cars Eeeeew! So so cool to see them flying like mad all over our block and in our trees! More then I've seen in a long time. And Kylie loves sitting at the window watching them all. We've finally convinced her that they're not all "just birds" but actually have names. So she is calling them "Robin Birds and Wax Wing Birds". Sorry no actual photos as the buggers are way too fast for me to get so instead of blurs I cut and copied pictures for you to see. Especially cool are the Wax Wings. I've never noticed those before but my Dad said "oh yah, those huge swarms are Wax Wings" and I mean SWARMS. And he hadn't even seen them in person. So I guess you do learn something new everyday. Thanks Dad!

PS. And the birds are getting "punch" drunk because we've had three SLAM into our living room windows today alone :-) Oh to be a bird!

Happy New Year (again!)

The year of the PIG is this years Chinese New Year animal (Chinese New Years Day is Feb 18).

A little bit about why a Pig....

A Piggy Year
Legend has it that in ancient times, Buddha asked all the animals to meet him on Chinese New Year. Twelve came, and Buddha named a year after each one. He announced that the people born in each animal's year would have some of that animal's personality. Those born in pig years tend to have excellent manners, make and keep friends, work very hard, and appreciate luxury. They are very loving and make loyal partners. Lucille Ball, Humphrey Bogart, Hillary Rodham Clinton, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Ernest Hemingway, Alfred Hitchcock, Mahalia Jackson, David Letterman, and Arnold Schwarzenegger were all born in the year of the pig.

FYI.... Mark was born in the year of the Rabbit... People born in the Year of the Rabbit are articulate, talented, and ambitious. They are virtuous, reserved, and have excellent taste. Rabbit people are admired, trusted, and are often financially lucky. They are fond of gossip but are tactful and generally kind. Rabbit people seldom lose their temper. They are clever at business and being conscientious, never back out of a contract. They would make good gamblers for they have the uncanny gift of choosing the right thing. However, they seldom gamble, as they are conservative and wise. They are most compatible with those born in the years of the Sheep, Pig, and Dog.

Susan: Year of the Monkey... People born in the Year of the Monkey are the erratic geniuses of the cycle. Clever, skillful, and flexible, they are remarkably inventive and original and can solve the most difficult problems with ease. There are few fields in which Monkey people wouldn't be successful but they have a disconcerting habit of being too agreeable. They want to do things now, and if they cannot get started immediately, they become discouraged and sometimes leave their projects. Although good at making decisions, they tend to look down on others. Having common sense, Monkey people have a deep desire for knowledge and have excellent memories. Monkey people are strong willed but their anger cools quickly. They are most compatible with the Dragon and Rat.

Kylie: Year of the Ram (no wonder her "lammie" is her FAVORITE lovey to have)... People born in the Year of Ram are elegant and highly accomplished in the arts. They seem to be, at first glance, better off than those born in the zodiac's other years. But ram year people are often shy, pessimistic, and puzzled about life. They are usually deeply religious, yet timid by nature. Sometimes clumsy in speech, they are always passionate about what they do and what they believe in. Ram people never have to worry about having the best in life for their abilities make money for them, and they are able to enjoy the creature comforts that they like. Ram people are wise, gentle, and compassionate. They are compatible with Rabbits, Pigs, and Horses.

No, do it like this......

So we're laying on our bed tonight doing our nightly ritual of watching some DVD before Kylie goes off to read books and hopefully fall into bed to sleep. Weeeeeelllll...she tells me "I have a headache rub my head momma" ok I do. "I have a tummy ache rub my belly" So I now rub her tummy and daddy is rubbing her head. I offer to switch as it's easier for me to reach her head and the angle is better. So we do. And all of sudden with a very stern voice..."No daddy not with THAT hand it's sweaty! Use THAT hand instead!" Well that won't work because of how he's laying on the bed so he offers to blow on his hand and wipe it off so it's NOT sweaty. Kylie goes "hmmmph!" and says "No I'll do it myself!" and proceeds to rub her own tummy. Tee hee! She showed us!

And did you know?

Warning this WILL qualify as way TOO much information!

We're at Gramma's house today and Gramma got this spiffy new scale. It's digital and Kylie loves to weigh herself. She gets on it and sure it enough registers in at a whopping 32 pounds. Well fast forward 10 minutes or so and she proceeds to announce "I gotta go PU!" and takes off running to do her business. And of course afterwards HAS to weigh herself again. And wouldn't you know it she is now 31 pounds. Which I tell her "you've lost a pound". Kylie looks puzzled and asks "Where did it go?" Well how do you explain to a 3 year old it's just the scale and "it" really didn't go anywhere? So I tell her "you must have PU'd it out"? Well she loves this idea and goes running out to the living room to tell Gramma "I PU'd a pound out gramma in your bathroom!" LOL!!!!!! From the mouths of babes :-)

Kylie's first dance

Well I just sent Kylie and her daddy off to the first of what I hope to be many "Father/Daughter" dances. So ALL day Kylie has been asking "When do we go? When is the dance? You better hurry the dance is gonna be soon". Yada yada yada! To which we respond...."We will go after dinner , after it's dark and after 7 o'clock". She has been "practicing" her dancing ALL week long. So I finally got her dressed, combed her hair and added a few sparkles to her cheeks and now the pictures. "Why?" she asks as we continue to pose her. "No, Kylie look over here. Kylie, stand still! Kylie, stand up. Kylie, open your eyes! Kylie, close your mouth!" It was endless. And then we hear "Oops,'scuse me I just tooted! Hey,my shoes just fell off!Don't squish my flower (yup, I made her a little corsage with a red carnation a couple strands of status and some scotch tape colored by a green sharpie to hold it all together and fastened on a with a safety pin....Martha Stewart I'm not!)oh and then "When are we going? Where are we going? Better hurry Nela is already there I'm sure!" So pictures to follow with more commentary on how it all went. I'm off to relax.....oh I mean do the dishes and enjoy my hour of NO questions of "Why....How come etc...."
